Sider's Suspension

Posted By: Eliot Feldman
Date: Thursday, 5 October 2006, at 10:15 a.m.

Here is the body of an email from Norbert Wallauch, President of the IPF. Listed are the three conditions that he said must be met for Brian to be able to lift and not face sanctions:

"1. this exhibition is definitely not a part of the USPF Senior Nationals where Ed Coan is competing,

2. no suspended lifter is competing together with or against Brian Siders at the Strength Challenge for Cash and

3. no combined score sheet will show Brian together with suspended lifters.

Though it is in fact a national matter I cannot not see a problem for Brian under these conditions to compete and cash the desired prize money."

All three of these qualifications were met and Brian was still disciplined. We, as USAPL members, must stand up for Brian. Everyone who reads this post needs to cut and paste the email addresses I have included and write an email in support of Brian. We welcome emails of support from the lifters of other IPF nations, as well of those of competing federations. It is time to make our voices heard. I was mistaken in thinking that Brian made a concious choice to disobey 10.11. It is clear to me that he competed in good faith that was shown by Norbert Wallach, but is not being honored by the IPF DC. It is wrong and those in power need to hear our message load and clear.
