Regina,
We use Kettlebells a lot. We have begun using them at the end of our dead lift sessions and it has virtually eliminated lingering soreness. Off season they do a great job of maintaining total body fitness (along with the accompanying cardio). With have a whole list of things to do and I turn my kids lose sometimes to see what else works. They are a good supplement.
