I don't think that would neccessarily do any good. The last year the world team was fielded by the USPF (1997), they ended up in 4th place behind Ukraine, Russia, and Chinese Taipei. They only had 1 first place finish @ 82.5 by Gene Bell. The USPF didn't have the lifters then to put enough points up on the board and they really don't have them now. Compare the USPF Men's Nats with the USAPL Men's Nats. There's no comparison.

This year we were in really good shape going in on paper. We lost Steve McLawchlin (sp?) and Brian Siders to injuries. Furthermore, we had 2 bomb outs that really hurt us as well. If Ervin Gainer (114) had not bombed we would have had another 2 pts to tie Poland. If Succoratte would not have bombed, if our 275 would have lifted better, blah, blah, blah...

In the end though, it's up to the lifters on our team to stay in the meet and make critical lifts to bump us up the team placing list.

I think we had the best personnel available this year. If there are people out there that think they can do better, by all means, come qualify and get on the team. I'm all for Team USA winning the team title.
