In Response To: Re: Questions about locked knees and squats (Regina Hackney)

If a lifter, prior to the "down" signal to S Q U A T, unracks the bar and sets up, why is the Head Judge not letting the lifter "re-rack" and readjust his knee position prior to descent, because if the lifter can NOT please the head judge prior to a decent descent, why should the Squatter even go through the strain/effort toward completing an unsuccessful lift??? I am a Natl referee, and I have been given signals beyond the "perimeter" on depth. Now I must get more signals from my fellow lifters or friends who will beckon to me prior to descent to "lock
and load"; at descent, awaiting the "Easy Weight" signal when depth is achieved; and ascend to the "lock and unload" position. I have never "Bombed" out in any full power tournament or single lift tournament, and I have judged in South Carolina and Texas. I have replaced judges from their chair, be it head or side, because the audience comes to see the "Lifters" perform, NOT the judges. Ooohoo, the stress of it all!! On the lighter side, it sure was a blessing that I stayed home rather than compete. To you 22 guys that bombed @ the Masters ........my heartfelt sorrow.
