In sports where instant replay is used, they generally have to look at the decision of one referee who made the call or threw the flag.

In boxing, there are 2 or 3 judges and one referee and it's never questioned what their decision comes out as.

In weightlifting and powerlifting there are three judges and majority rules.

Yes mistakes are made, but most of the time they are correct. consistency is the key issue.

An inconsistent referee should be replaced if enough complaining is done or itf a jury is used.
