I read it and this is one case where Regina and I will disagree. Back when we used to have a press command in the goold old days, the head ref called the press command and that was it. If the lifter received the press command, he (or she) had satisfied that portion of the lift.

As a lifter and a ref, I think that is the way it should be.

Having said that, I wouldn't necessarily say that Regina or anyone is wrong simply because she disagreed with Shawn Cain. Shawn is a dedicated, loyal USAPL member and a pretty good guy but damn he isn't always right.

That would make him me.... and since he's about 30 lbs heavier, and has orange hair, he can't be me.
