Side referees will not, can not red-light for pause time BUT they can red-light for bar not motionless on the chest, bar not on the chest, butt off the bench, feet or foot off the floor, head coming off the bench, bar dipping on the way up (you know like the left elbow dips on the assent), for not waiting for the press signal, you don't have to press as soon as you get the signal but you better not press before you get the signal. I am sure I left something. As I am famous for saying, "read the rulebook" and go to rules briefing and ask questions if you are unsure of something. AND if you think the referees made a mistake, protest to the jury.
