There is no press command. We have "start" and "rack."

"and be able to see if it locked out evenly. That would give the handoffer more room to spot."

He also has to watch to see if the weight touches, if the shoulders come up and if the feet move although that can also be seen by the side refs. The head judge also has to have a clear view of the lifter as he is the on that is supposed to tell the spotters when to take the bar if the lifts stops for too long.
